1. How to use "thus" in a composition

28 Dic

Grammar corner 1. The use of thus: “All animals thus infected exhibited the same disease symptoms” “Samples from the animal in which disease thus occurs must contain the same organism that was present in the original diseased human.” Use the adverb thus in place of words like therefore or so when you want to sound proper. Use thus interchangeably with words like consequently, ergo, hence, and just like that. For example, if you want to sound fancy you could say no one showed up for water aerobics, thus the class was cancelled. It had to be thus. Thus is also, rarely, a noun that means a good-smelling gum resin from trees that we don't really use anymore. Exercise: thus means : A. merely B. therefore C. first D. wholly (Answer: Therefore) Definitions of thus 1. adverb (used to introduce a logical conclusion) from that fact or reason or as a result “it is late and thus we must go” synonyms: hence, so, thence, therefore 2. adverb in the way indicated “set up the pieces thus” synonyms: so, thusly 3. noun an aromatic gum resin obtained from various Arabian or East African trees; formerly valued for worship and for embalming and fumigation

4. Tips for the exam

1 Mar

Dont's - No podemos utilizar pronombres en las introducciones. El examinador no sabrá a qué os referís a menos que lo hayáis mencionado antes - la opinión debe quedar clara al principio y al final del examen. El objetivo del desarrollo es convencer. - sustituye "I think" por "as far as I am concned" - "very" es el intensificador de los vagos. Practice until you can't get it wrong ¿-Estás estudiando tus tres palabras de vocabulario al día?See u in class
